Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. is a Latina community service-based organization that takes pride in servicing the community, mentoring youth, and promoting higher education while maintaining cultural heritage. The Nutorious Nu Chapter of Gamma Alpha Omega was founded on April 12, 2002 at Baylor University, making us the FIRST Latina Sorority on campus!
About us:
Vision Statement To be an innovative and international leader in the Greek Community, renowned for outstanding and diverse undergraduate chapters, prestigious and engaged Alumnae, developing strong leaders and providing a lifelong sisterhood.
Mission Statement We are a Latina-founded, multicultural organization that exists to: •Increase the number of women with a college education and advanced degrees. •Provide mentors for youth, women and under-represented communities. •Enhance the individual leader in each member. •Provide a family of lifelong support for sisters who live their lives by the pillars of Honesty, Integrity, Leadership, Scholarship and Unity.
Philanthropy Gamma Alpha Omega knows the power of women to effect positive change, and has proven it from our volunteer work to foster educational and mentoring programs and support Emeralds for Education. Our chapters support local and national organizations, volunteering many hours and generously fundraising for this cause. Because we shared the same value with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBS), we established a partnership as their only sorority philanthropic partner. In addition, we have also chosen to support HIV/AIDS Awareness as our other philanthropy as to support women, but especially people of color.
Congratulations to our newest Alpha Beta Class: #1 Madison 'Altruista' Delgado We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see what you accomplish!
